Alright, time to begin another four-week mini-cycle! We just finished up cycle 1, which was the "preparation" phase targeted mostly at increasing technical proficiency, increasing work capacity, building some muscle, and getting ready physically and mentally for the next two cycles. We were doing lots of triples in the classic lifts (snatches, cleans, and jerks) and sets of five in the squats, presses, and pulls in order to achieve those goals. This cycle will be our heavy strength-emphasis cycle. Say goodbye to sets of five back squats (whew!); you will be seeing lots of doubles in the classic lifts and triples in the squats, presses, and pulls, and at increased intensity. It's time to get strong!
