Clean and jerk: (85% x 1, 90% x 1, 95% x 1) x 2
Back squat: 95% x 2 x 5
Clean pull: 100% x 2 x 4
That's right! This will be the last high-volume, high-loading week before we back it off for the upcoming meets the first weekend in January. This week will be heavy and demanding, as you can see, but next week will be much lighter to start getting us all recovered optimally to snatch and clean and jerk big weights the first weekend in January, whether down at Thrush or at our in-house gym meet the day after.
Speaking of meets, I thought I'd take a moment to discuss just who these meets are for. In short, they are for EVERYBODY! I encourage everyone who's been training with us to participate in either or both. The cool thing about weightlifting, especially these local meets, is that it is less about competing with everyone else at the meet and more about competing with yourself and with the bar. There are always lifters at all skill and ability and strength levels, and everybody lifts on the same platform. There's no "scaled" division or anything like that. Everybody snatches and clean and jerks, and everybody is just trying to improve upon what they did last time, and we cheer for everybody equally no matter how much weight is on the bar. A PR is a PR!
Now, I understand that the concept of a sanctioned meet can be a little intimidating (as can the concept of lifting in a singlet) and this is why we are holding a more casual, non-sanctioned meet the day after for anyone who just isn't excited about lifting on that stage yet! This will be a fun event. We will run it similarly to how we did last time. USAW/IWF rules, but no singlets required. And did I mention it will be lots of fun?
Those of you who will be lifting in the sanctioned meet at Thrush, I need your singlet sizes TODAY if I haven't already gotten them! We will be placing our order either today or tomorrow, so if you want a singlet and I don't have your weight/size, make sure you get that information to me so you don't get left out! I have order requests and sizes from the following athletes:
