| Great work this weekend Molly! Now let's get back to work! |
We also got to watch some of the biggest lifters in our country, and even got to see some American records being broken including a junior athlete (Jenny Arthur, 19 years old) break both the 69 kg junior AND senior American clean and jerk record with a 127 kg clean and jerk. CRAZY! Definitely an inspiring weekend, and I can't wait to get back to training and coaching and work towards taking a squad down there in the years to come!
This week is performance week in our programming, and the final week in this 4-week mini-cycle. The lifts will be challenging this week for sure: doubles at 90% in the classic lifts and triples at 90% in the strength lifts. If the lifts at 90% are not challenging, go up after making at least one good lift at 90% (the first target set on your sheets). If 90% is sufficiently brutal (it should be), then stay feel free to stay there and get good lifts in! If 90% just isn't happening because you're not fully recovered because you celebrated the American Open too hard this weekend or whatever and you're missing lifts, then go back down and get good lifts in. We don't want to practice misses, we want to practice good lifts! Next week we begin our competition phase cycle! Hooray for singles! I can't wait!
Molly, Stephen, and Piper will be taking care of you guys this week while I am away doing science nerd stuff. I will be back to coach this Saturday, then gone again until Wednesday. Be nice to them while I am gone; they all know their stuff and will take good care of you!
